    Reading the Signs

When you are in harmony with your life goals,
    When you are doing
what you are supposed to be doing
when you are supposed to be doing it,
    Life glides more easily.
    Your heart feels lighter,
    Stoplights stay green for you,
    babies will smile at you,

    and you are in sync.

    But,
if you try to force your way
into things you shouldn't be doing,
    at least not yet,
    Obstacles mount in your path.
    Trip-wires appear
and you keep hitting the wall.

    Just pull back a little.
    Reevaluate.
What changed when life suddenly got unfriendly?
Did you begin a new venture,
    or plan to begin?

Maybe it is the wrong thing for you.
    Or maybe
It's just not the right time.

    Be patient
and maybe try a different path
    at least for a while.
You can try the unfriendly trail later,
    after you
    or it
    has mellowed a bit.

    The Flying Dream

Ever since I was a young child I have had a recurring dream.  It always varies somewhat, but the substance is that I can fly.  Or that I can zoom.  That I am weightless.

When I was growiing up we lived down a long lane that we had to walk down every morning to catch the school bus.  I remember vividly dreaming that I made that trip without any effort at all.  I moved my legs as if running, but I just kind of glided swiftly down the road.  The distance that normally took me at least 5 minutes to walk was covered in a matter of seconds.

And I was not winded whatsoever.

I remember the next day trudging down the lane toward the school bus stop and remembering my ease of the night before.  I tried to do the same kind of "run", but had no luck.  Gravity and short little girl legs just didn't allow me the freedom I felt when I "zoomed" down the road before.

It was quite disappointing.  I wanted to move like I did in the dream.  It was so real.  I felt like I really did it, that it wasn't really a dream after all.

I've had that same dream experience every year or two since then.  Sometimes I'll travel to a distant planet, sometimes I'll just be inside a school gymnasium, but always I  travel with ease and speed.

And I always wake up exhilarated and happy.

I think it's about time for me to have another one of those dreams.
